Votanikon Gin

Votanikon Gin is produced in Greece using a selection of botanicals traditionally found across the country. The spirit is created by DS Concepts Ltd. with the intention of highlighting plants that have long been part of Greek herbal culture, including sideritis, also known as Greek mountain tea, mastiha from the island of Chios, and several aromatic herbs commonly used in the region. The recipe brings together 20 botanicals, combining familiar gin ingredients with elements that reflect the Mediterranean landscape.

The distillation process follows the principles of London Dry Gin production, where botanicals are distilled together in a single run without post-distillation flavoring. Juniper forms the base, supported by herbs such as basil and sage, as well as chamomile and saffron, which contribute floral and earthy nuances. The use of mastiha, valued in Greek tradition for its resinous and lightly sweet aroma, adds a distinctive layer to the gin's character.

On the nose, Votanikon Gin offers herbal notes complemented by soft citrus and subtle floral hints. The palate is balanced, showing a combination of Mediterranean herbs, gentle spice, and a natural aromatic dryness typical of the London Dry style. The texture is smooth and measured, leading to a clean finish where herbal and resinous elements persist. The gin is often served in a gin and tonic with a simple garnish, and a traditional Greek presentation sometimes includes olives as an accompaniment.
