Gins to love!

Zuidam Dutch Courage Dry Gin is produced in the Netherlands by Zuidam Distillers, a family owned distillery with a long tradition of small batch spirits production. The name Dutch Courage refers to the historic Dutch role in the development of gin and genever, and the distillery’s intention to reinterpret classic dry gin through a precise and craftsmanship driven approach.
A defining element of Zuidam’s philosophy is the individual distillation of each botanical. Rather than distilling all ingredients together, every botanical is distilled separately in small copper pot stills. This method allows the distillers to control extraction and intensity with great accuracy, and to assemble the final gin with a high level of balance and clarity. The chosen alcohol strength of 44 percent is intended to preserve aromatic depth and structure.
The botanical composition is built around juniper berries, which provide a firm, resinous backbone. Coriander from Morocco adds a dry, spicy and lightly citrus driven character, while angelica root contributes earthy depth and structural cohesion. Sweet orange, together with lemon and lime peels from Spain, brings layered citrus freshness without overt sweetness. Cardamom introduces aromatic warmth and subtle spice, while liquorice root adds a restrained natural sweetness. Vanilla from Madagascar gives a soft, rounded accent, and iris root contributes floral nuance and a smooth mouthfeel.
On the nose, the gin opens with clear juniper and bright citrus notes, followed by gentle spice and a faint floral tone. The palate is dry and well structured, led by juniper and coriander, with citrus oils providing freshness and lift. Vanilla and liquorice appear subtly in the background, adding roundness without masking the dry profile. The finish is long, clean and slightly spicy, with lingering juniper, citrus peel and soft herbal notes.
Zuidam Dutch Courage Dry Gin is particularly suited to classic gin serves. In a Gin and Tonic, it benefits from a neutral tonic and restrained garnish to highlight its balance. It also performs well in traditional cocktails such as the Dry Martini or the Gin Fizz, where its dry structure and layered botanicals remain clearly defined.
