ARC Barrel Reserve Gin Description

ARC Barrel Reserve Gin is a Philippine barrel-aged gin made by Full Circle Craft Distillers Co. in Calamba, Laguna. It begins with ARC Botanical Gin, the distillery's flagship gin, which is built from 28 botanicals, including tropical fruits, citrus, flowers, herbs and spices associated with the Philippine archipelago. Twenty-two of these botanicals are locally sourced or foraged in the Philippines, giving the base gin a profile shaped by pomelo, calamansi, dayap lime, dalandan orange, mango, Benguet pine, sampaguita, ylang-ylang and kamia alongside classic gin ingredients.

After distillation, ARC Botanical Gin is rested in new 225-litre American oak barrels with a medium-long toast, described by the distillery as Burgundy style. The barrels are made by coopers in Napa Valley, California. Rather than applying a fixed maturation period, the distiller tastes the gin regularly and decides when the balance between botanical character and oak has been reached. The spirit uses a 100% wheat neutral alcohol base, which contributes a rounded texture and a discreet natural sweetness beneath the botanical profile.

Oak maturation changes the character of the original gin without erasing its Philippine identity. The barrels contribute notes associated with vanilla bean, caramel, dark chocolate, toasted almond, roasted nuts, crème brûlée, hazelnut and toasted marshmallow. These warmer flavours sit beside the citrus, floral and juniper-led structure of the underlying gin. The result belongs firmly to the barrel-aged gin category: it remains recognisably gin, but its profile is deeper, more rounded and suited to slow sipping.

On the nose, ARC Barrel Reserve Gin combines citrus, cinnamon and cardamom with a lightly peppery impression. Juniper appears with leafy green herbs, while the oak adds vanilla and butterscotch. The palate is rich and layered, bringing together juniper, pomelo, floral notes, angelica, lavender and star anise before the barrel influence becomes more visible. Oak, vanilla and caramel broaden the middle of the palate, while the tropical fruit and citrus character keeps the gin from becoming overly heavy.

The finish is long and warming, with pomelo, toasted caramel, cinnamon and sweet spice. ARC Barrel Reserve Gin is well suited to being served neat or over a large cube of ice. Its oak-aged profile also makes it appropriate for a gin Old Fashioned, a Negroni variation or other spirit-forward cocktails where the vanilla, toasted oak and citrus notes can remain visible. The gin received a Gold Medal at the World Gin Awards in 2019, Platinum and Best of Category at the ASCOT Awards in 2021, Double Gold at the SIP Awards in 2021, and a Master medal at The Asian Spirits Masters in 2023.
