Gin d'Arc Description

Gin d'Arc is a French tasting gin created by Maison d'Arc in Marcilly-en-Villette, in the Loiret department at the gateway to Sologne. The project was started by Adrien Maclain and Tomas Lopez Oliart, two Orléans-based gin enthusiasts. The idea for the brand emerged in late 2019, followed by roughly two years of research, trials and recipe development before the original Gin d'Arc was released.

Rather than following the profile of a conventional London Dry, Gin d'Arc is built through cold infusions. Its eleven botanicals are macerated separately in a juniper distillate, with the duration and alcohol strength adapted to each ingredient. This slow production method takes around three weeks and gives the gin its naturally amber colour, as well as its more rounded style. Maison d'Arc presents it as a gin for tasting rather than simply as a mixer-led spirit.

Juniper remains the foundation of the recipe, while red Sichuan pepper brings a light, vibrant spice and Ceylon cinnamon contributes warmth. The full botanical list is not publicly detailed, but the producer identifies citrus, herbs, peppers and spices as the main aromatic families. The result is therefore not intended as a fruit-flavoured gin or a sweetened style, but as a structured, aromatic spirit in which the cold infusions remain central to both its colour and flavour.

On the nose, Gin d'Arc is fragrant and expressive, with herbaceous and citrus notes appearing before the warmer elements. The palate is described as round and full, moving from fresh herbal and citrus accents at the start toward a more woody and lightly spicy finish. Juniper keeps the gin recognisable within the category, while the Sichuan pepper contributes a gentle lift rather than a strong heat. Cinnamon supports the finish with a dry, warming impression.

Gin d'Arc is primarily intended to be served neat, at a temperature that allows its amber colour and aromatic detail to be appreciated. It can also be used as a cocktail base when the recipe leaves room for its botanical profile. In a gin and tonic, a restrained tonic and orange zest are coherent choices, as they support the citrus side without overwhelming the herbaceous, woody and lightly peppery structure.
