Ki No Tea Gin is a Japanese gin from The Kyoto Distillery, created as a tea-focused expression of the Ki No Bi family. Ki No Tea places Japanese tea culture at the centre of the gin experience. The result is refined and aromatic, with the freshness of citrus and the structure of juniper supporting the more delicate green tea dimension.
The botanical composition includes juniper berries, orris root, akamatsu, yuzu, lemon and green tea in the form of gyokuro and tencha. Yuzu and lemon bring brightness, green tea gives the gin its distinctive leafy depth, and akamatsu adds a Japanese forest-like aromatic note. The Kyoto Distillery’s style is based on careful botanical grouping and balance, which suits this tea-led expression where intensity must not crush delicacy.
The nose is elegant and layered, with yuzu peel, lemon, soft juniper and green tea. On the palate, the gin is aromatic rather than heavy: citrus gives lift, tea contributes a dry leafy texture, and orris brings a quiet floral softness. The finish is long, refined and gently vegetal, with a clean green tea persistence.
At 45.1% ABV, Ki No Tea has enough strength for a premium gin and tonic with yuzu peel or a very restrained tea garnish. It also works beautifully in a Martini-style serve, where its tea and citrus detail can remain precise.
This balance makes Ki No Tea a particularly contemplative gin. It is expressive enough for a long drink, but its finest details appear when the serve remains quiet: clean ice, a precise mixer, and a garnish that supports yuzu or tea rather than competing with them.
