Nouaison Reserve Gin is a French barrel-aged gin from the G’Vine family, built on the grape-based universe of Maison Villevert and shaped for a richer, more contemplative style. Nouaison Reserve takes the aromatic language of gin toward a more mature register. The grape identity, warm spices and ageing influence give it a bridge between gin and aged spirits, without erasing the botanical freshness that keeps it recognisably gin.
The recipe brings together French grapes, juniper berries, coriander, cassia bark, green grape flower, nutmeg, cubeb berries, ginger root, liquorice and lime. The grape and green grape flower give a distinctive aromatic signature, while cassia, nutmeg, cubeb and ginger build a warm, spicy architecture around the juniper. The reserve character comes from a barrel-aged expression, which adds woody, vanilla-toned and lightly oxidative nuances to the botanical base.
The nose opens on ripe grape, citrus and warm spice, with juniper present but integrated into the broader aromatic frame. On the palate, the texture is fuller than a classic dry gin: lime keeps the profile fresh, liquorice adds depth, and the barrel influence brings gentle wood, roundness and a hint of vanilla. The finish is long, spicy and softly woody.
At 42% ABV, Nouaison Reserve is well suited to a refined gin and tonic with ginger or a lightly aromatic mixer, but it also deserves consideration in spirit-forward serves. It has enough structure for a Negroni variation and enough maturity to be enjoyed in a short serve over ice.
