Inverroche Classic Gin is the crisp, dry and citrus-herbal pillar of the Inverroche range. Distilled in South Africa, it brings together a familiar gin structure with the local signature of fynbos botanicals. Classic is the most straightforward entry point into the range, but that does not mean it is plain. Its interest comes from the balance between juniper, citrus, spice and the green, floral character of Cape botanicals.
The botanicals include juniper, angelica root, cassia bark, cardamom pods, coriander seed, fynbos botanicals, citrus buchu and spekboom. Angelica and coriander provide the traditional dry backbone; cassia and cardamom add spice; citrus buchu gives a bright aromatic citrus lift; and spekboom contributes a fresh green note. The fynbos element gives the gin its origin and separates it from a conventional London Dry style, even though the drinking profile remains clean and accessible.
On the nose, Inverroche Classic Gin opens with fresh juniper, citrus peel and soft florals. The spice is gentle, more supportive than dominant. On the palate, the first impression is dry and bright, with citrus and coriander moving quickly into a green herbal middle. Cassia and cardamom add warmth, while angelica gives rooty dryness. The finish is clean, lightly peppery and aromatic, with a final return of fynbos and lemony herbs.
For the perfect serve, an herbal tonic works well because it connects with the fynbos without making the drink sweet. Serve in a chilled copa with plenty of clear ice, 5 cl of gin and 15 cl of Fentimans Herbal Tonic Water. A twist of lime zest sharpens the citrus, while a small mint sprig adds freshness. The mint should be handled lightly; too much bruising would dominate the gin. The result should feel crisp, dry and botanical.
