Hexagone Gin Signature is a French barrel-aged gin distinguished by a maturation process that links botanical distillation with wine cask aging. After distillation, the gin is matured for nearly six months in oak barrels that previously contained Rivesaltes Ambre, a fortified sweet wine from the Languedoc-Roussillon region. This finishing step contributes additional aromatic layers while preserving the structure of the original gin.
The botanical composition combines classic and more unusual elements. Juniper forms the structural base, supported by orange peel and kaffir lime which bring brightness and citrus lift. Floral notes emerge through jasmine, while green cardamom and Sao Tome pepper contribute a warm, spicy dimension. Hops introduce a subtle herbal bitterness that complements the aromatic structure.
The maturation in ex-Rivesaltes barrels influences both aroma and texture. During aging, the spirit develops notes reminiscent of candied orange and dried apricot, alongside hints of honey and vanilla derived from the interaction with oak and the residual character of the wine cask. The resulting profile shows a balance between citrus freshness, floral tones and gentle sweetness from the barrel influence.
On the nose, citrus and floral elements appear first, followed by honeyed and lightly spiced nuances. The palate is rounder than a typical unaged gin, with orange peel, jasmine and spice unfolding over a soft oak background. The finish is smooth and persistent, marked by vanilla, dried fruit and lingering citrus.
Hexagone Gin Signature is produced in limited quantities, with a release of 967 individually numbered bottles. It can be enjoyed neat, where the barrel influence is clearly perceptible, or used in cocktails such as a Negroni where the additional depth from the cask aging integrates well with bitter and vermouth components. It can also be served in a gin and tonic with a neutral tonic and a twist of lime.
