Gins to love!

Generous Azur is a French distilled gin produced in the Cognac region by the family-owned distillery Maison Villevert, known for creating gins inspired by specific landscapes and atmospheres. This expression is dedicated to the Mediterranean coast and more precisely to the atmosphere of the Côte d’Azur, aiming to translate its light, vegetation and characteristic aromas into a gin built around citrus, herbs and flowers.
The base of Generous Azur is a neutral French spirit into which carefully selected botanicals are infused and then distilled. Among the key ingredients are juniper berries, bitter orange, blood orange, elderflowers, violet and basil. Each botanical is chosen for its connection to Mediterranean and Provencal aromas. The distillation is carried out with precision in order to preserve the freshness of the citrus, the delicacy of the flowers and the aromatic brightness of the herbs, without overwhelming the essential structure of juniper.
On the nose, the profile is dominated by fresh and zesty citrus notes, led by blood orange and bitter orange, followed by a pronounced floral character from violet and elderflower. Herbal nuances of fresh basil add a green, slightly peppery dimension. The aromatic impression is radiant and clean, with a clear reference to sunlit gardens and citrus orchards.
On the palate, Generous Azur is smooth and expressive. The juniper forms a subtle but present backbone, supporting juicy blood orange, light bitterness from the orange peel and soft floral touches. The basil appears in the mid-palate, bringing a slightly savoury and aromatic contrast that keeps the profile balanced. The texture is supple, with a gentle roundness that reflects the careful balance between fruit, flower and herb.
The finish is moderately long, marked by lingering citrus zest, a hint of floral sweetness and a fresh, herbal echo. There is no excessive sweetness, allowing the gin to remain fresh, dry enough and highly versatile.
Generous Azur works particularly well in a classic gin and tonic with a neutral or lightly floral tonic and a garnish of fresh basil, orange peel or a few red berries. It also integrates naturally in cocktails such as the Gin Fizz, the French 75 or light spritz-style serves, where its citrus and floral character can express itself clearly without masking other ingredients.
