Gins to love!

Generous Purple Organic is a French gin developed by Maison Villevert as part of its Generous range, which explores specific aromatic landscapes through carefully selected, often organic botanicals. This expression stands out for its naturally tinted purple hue, obtained from grape anthocyanins, and for its distinctive citrus and peppery profile built around pink grapefruit and Timut pepper.
The gin is produced from a neutral agricultural alcohol into which the botanicals are infused before distillation. Juniper forms the structural backbone, while organic pink grapefruit contributes a bright and slightly sweet citrus character. Timut pepper, a rare pepper from Nepal known for its aromatic intensity and its naturally citrus-like notes, brings a singular dimension with impressions reminiscent of grapefruit zest and exotic citrus. Grape polyphenols and anthocyanins, extracted from the skin of grapes, are used to give the gin its characteristic purple colour, which can evolve in contact with tonic or citrus.
On the nose, Generous Purple Organic opens with a clean and expressive bouquet dominated by pink grapefruit and fresh citrus peel. Floral nuances and subtle herbal tones appear in the background, supported by soft juniper and a light peppery note evocative of yuzu and grapefruit zest. The aromatic profile is vivid yet precise, with no single element overwhelming the others.
On the palate, the texture is smooth and structured. Juicy grapefruit and fresh citrus unfold first, followed by the unmistakable signature of Timut pepper, which delivers a gentle tingling sensation and a complex, spicy-citrus freshness. Juniper remains present in the background, maintaining the identity of the gin while allowing the fruit and spice to express themselves fully. The balance is dry, bright and clean.
The finish is persistent and refreshing, with lingering notes of citrus zest, light bitterness from the grapefruit and a delicate, aromatic pepperiness. The overall impression is modern and vibrant, yet grounded in traditional gin structure.
Generous Purple Organic is particularly well suited to a gin and tonic where its natural colour shift and citrus profile can be highlighted. It pairs well with a neutral or lightly bitter tonic, garnished with a slice of pink grapefruit or a twist of citrus peel. It also performs effectively in contemporary cocktails that benefit from its vivid colour and pronounced citrus-pepper character, while remaining fully identifiable as a gin.
