It is based on the original Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin, created by Sebastiaan and David, grandsons of Jacobus "Bobby" Alfons. Bobby, born in Indonesia and later settled in the Netherlands, was known for infusing his jenever with Indonesian spices. This family habit and the Pinang Raci spice blend that he used became the foundation for a gin that brings together Dutch distilling know how and Indonesian aromatic influences.

The recipe uses eight key botanicals that are macerated and distilled individually before blending. Juniper berries provide the classic gin structure. Coriander seeds, fennel and rosehips represent the more traditional Schiedam style botanicals. Lemongrass, cloves, cinnamon and cubeb pepper reflect Indonesian spice traditions and give the gin its distinctive character. The separate distillation of each botanical allows the distiller to preserve their individual aromatic profile before combining them precisely in the final blend.

On the nose, Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin typically shows fresh notes of lemongrass and citrus, supported by coriander, fennel and the soft fruitiness of rosehips. Subtle spice from cloves and cinnamon appears in the background, together with juniper and a hint of cubeb pepper. The impression is aromatic and layered rather than dominated by a single botanical.

On the palate, the gin is clean and structured. Citrus and lemongrass bring a bright, fresh entry, quickly joined by herbal and slightly aniseed notes from fennel and coriander. Clove and cinnamon contribute a warm spice dimension, while cubeb pepper adds a gentle peppery lift and a drying effect towards the back of the palate. Juniper remains present throughout, anchoring the profile firmly in the gin category. The texture is smooth, with a dry finish that keeps the flavours focused.
