Gins to love!

Tanqueray Rangpur is a flavoured gin introduced as part of Tanqueray’s exploration of citrus driven profiles. Its name refers to the Rangpur lime, also known as the Rangpur fruit, a citrus originating from the Indian subcontinent. Despite its name, the Rangpur is not a true lime but a hybrid of citron and mandarin orange. Tanqueray has highlighted this ingredient as the central botanical shaping the expression’s identity, offering a citrus character that differs from traditional lime or lemon. The gin builds on the classic Tanqueray base with juniper berries, coriander seeds and other traditional botanicals, enriched with Rangpur limes and bay leaves during distillation.
On the nose the gin offers an immediate burst of citrus, dominated by the aromatic intensity of Rangpur lime. This citrus note appears softer and more rounded than typical lime, with mandarin like sweetness supported by gentle herbal undertones from bay leaf. Juniper remains present but restrained, giving structure without overshadowing the citrus character.
On the palate the gin is smooth and bright. The Rangpur lime delivers a balance of acidity and sweetness that contrasts with the drier character of classic Tanqueray. Coriander adds a mild spice and warmth while bay leaf contributes a soft herbal layer that broadens the mid palate. The juniper anchors the flavour progression and maintains the identity of a true gin. The texture is light to medium bodied, allowing the citrus notes to dominate without becoming sharp.
The finish is clean and moderately persistent with lingering citrus oils, a light herbal impression and the dryness of juniper. Tanqueray Rangpur is commonly highlighted by bartenders as a gin suited to simple serves that showcase its citrus profile. It performs well in a gin and tonic garnished with lime or orange zest, and it can complement cocktails calling for bright citrus accents such as a Tom Collins or a Gimlet style preparation.
