Aduro Superior Gin

Aduro Superior Gin is the flagship gin of Aduro Explosive Spirits, a Belgian brand created by two Belgian brothers who partnered with an Italian mountain distillery in the Dolomites to produce the spirit. Although the brand is Belgian, production is associated with this long-established Italian site, where traditional distillation know-how and local water are central to the style.

The gin is presented as an organic gin built on a recipe of 23 botanicals. In line with the house approach described by the producer and specialised retailers, the spirit is distilled using a bain-marie system (bagnomaria), a gentle method designed to heat the still indirectly. The base alcohol is described as a grain spirit made from ecologically grown barley, and the botanical blend is macerated prior to distillation. The water used is commonly described as very pure water from the Dolomites.

The botanical profile is documented as distinctly Mediterranean in character, with Sicilian citrus playing a leading role. Sicilian lemons and mandarins are frequently cited, alongside a floral core built around lavender, rose petals, elderflower, orange blossom and chamomile. Spices such as cardamom and ginger contribute lift and warmth, while mugwort is referenced among the herbs that add a greener, more aromatic underpinning.

On the nose, the first impression is bright citrus, with lemon zest and mandarin peel supported by a clear juniper backbone. Floral notes follow quickly, suggesting lavender and soft rose, with an airy, spring-like character from elderflower and chamomile. Subtle herbal facets add complexity rather than bitterness.

The palate remains structured as a gin first: juniper leads, then citrus spreads across the mid-palate with a fresh, lightly tangy impression. Floral botanicals broaden the profile without turning sweet, while cardamom and ginger add a restrained spicy edge. The mouthfeel is smooth and rounded for its strength, and the finish is clean, with lingering citrus peel, gentle florals, and a soft herbal echo consistent with mugwort.

Aduro Superior Gin is well suited to a classic gin and tonic where its citrus and floral elements can be kept in focus. A neutral tonic and a simple garnish such as lemon peel or a citrus slice are coherent choices. It can also be used in straightforward cocktails that preserve botanical definition, such as a Gin Fizz or a classic Martini adapted to a more aromatic, floral-citrus style.
