Sharish Laurinius Gin

Sharish Laurinius Gin is a distinguished limited edition Portuguese gin, with only 3,883 bottles produced. This exceptional spirit undergoes a meticulous aging process, resting for a full year in oak barrels previously used for Lourinhã Brandy, one of the world's three demarcated wine distilled regions alongside Cognac and Armagnac. This aging imparts a rich amber hue and a complex flavor profile to the gin. The creation of Laurinius Gin was inspired by a collaborative visit from the officials responsible for Aguardente Louriana XO to the Sharish Gin Distillery. Embracing this partnership, master distiller António Cuco crafted a unique variation of the original Sharish Gin. In this rendition, the traditional Bravo de Esmolfe apple is replaced with the Pêra-Rocha pear from Portugal's western region, and an additional botanical, the bay leaf, is introduced as a tribute to Lourinhã. The botanical blend also includes juniper, cinnamon, coriander seeds, cloves, vanilla, orange peel, lemon zest from Alentejo, and angelica. The result is a smooth gin with a unique citrus aroma from the orange peel, a sweet flavor from the pears and vanilla, and a distinctive juniper note. The aging process in oak barrels softens the aromas, giving them warmer notes and providing the drink with a deep, amber color characteristic of aged gins. Sharish Laurinius Gin is best enjoyed neat or over ice, allowing its intricate flavors to shine. It pairs exceptionally well with sweet desserts, enhancing the overall tasting experience.
