Amicis is a Portuguese gin whose name comes from Latin and translates as friends. The brand presents the gin as a tribute to friendship and to the natural landscapes of central Portugal, with a particular connection to the Beiras. It is positioned as a London Dry Gin at 40% alcohol by volume.

Amicis is distilled from a set of 14 natural botanicals associated with the central region, with plants described as being harvested in the mountain ranges of Serra de Sicó and Serra do Açor. Alongside a classic juniper backbone and a core of traditional gin botanicals, the house style highlights regional components frequently cited for this gin, including carqueja flower, Santa Maria herb, eucalyptus, walnut and honey, supported by a citrus element.

The production is described as a slow distillation in copper stills intended to preserve the aromatic definition of the botanicals. The gin is also described as resting for around two weeks in the bottle before release, presented as a finishing step to help the profile settle and integrate.

On the nose, the aromatic profile is built on clear juniper supported by citrus brightness. Floral and herbal notes follow, with the distinctive, dry-floral edge attributed to carqueja and a fresh, green lift associated with Santa Maria herb and eucalyptus. A gentle nutty and honeyed nuance can appear as a softer background layer, adding warmth without turning the profile into a sweetened style.

On the palate, Amicis remains structured as a dry gin. Juniper leads, then citrus expands through the mid-palate while herbal notes build complexity. The honey and walnut elements are typically perceived as subtle roundness and depth rather than overt sweetness. The finish is clean and persistent, with lingering citrus peel-like freshness, a light herbal echo and a restrained, warming undertone.

Amicis can be served in a classic gin and tonic where a neutral tonic keeps the profile readable. A simple citrus garnish is consistent with its aromatic direction, while a restrained herbal garnish can reinforce its regional botanical identity. In cocktails, it is best suited to formats that preserve botanical clarity, such as a dry Martini style or a Gin Fizz.
