Z44 Distilled Dry Gin Description

Z44 Distilled Dry Gin is produced by Roner in South Tyrol, northern Italy, a region known for its alpine climate and long tradition of distillation. The gin takes its name from the geographic latitude of the distillery and is conceived as a dry, expressive spirit inspired by mountain landscapes and cooler environments.

The botanical profile is built around classic juniper, supported by a selection of ingredients that emphasize freshness, spice and resinous depth. Dried orange peel and kaffir lime leaves contribute a vivid citrus character, combining bitterness, aromatic lift and a distinctly fresh, green citrus tone. These elements frame the core structure and keep the profile crisp despite the relatively high bottling strength of 44% ABV.

Spice and depth are introduced through Szechuan pepper and liquorice root. The pepper adds a gently tingling warmth and a slightly citrusy spiciness rather than aggressive heat, while liquorice root brings roundness and a subtle natural sweetness that softens the dry backbone. Pine nuts contribute a resinous, nutty note that reinforces the alpine identity of the gin, evoking forest aromas and earthy nuances.

Menthol appears as a cooling accent, enhancing the sensation of freshness on the nose and palate without dominating the profile. On tasting, the gin opens with bright juniper and citrus oils, moves into a layered mid-palate of spice and resin, and finishes dry, clean and lingering, with citrus peel bitterness, soft liquorice and a cooling herbal lift.

Z44 Distilled Dry Gin is well suited to a classic gin and tonic, where a restrained garnish such as citrus peel or a simple herbal accent allows the alpine and citrus-spice balance to remain clear. It also performs well in dry, spirit-forward cocktails where structure and aromatic definition are essential.
