Dehydrated Lemon WheelWhitley Neill Parma Violet Gin is a flavoured gin developed within the Whitley Neill range, drawing inspiration from the traditional Parma violet confectionery that has long been associated with floral aromas and nostalgic sweetness in British culture. The expression is built on the distillery’s established gin base, designed to support aromatic infusions without overwhelming the underlying structure.
The botanical foundation follows a classic gin framework, combining juniper with coriander seeds, angelica root, orris root, cassia bark, citrus elements and liquorice. This traditional core provides balance, dryness and gentle spice, creating a stable backdrop for the addition of violet flower extract, which defines the character of the gin.
On the nose, floral notes dominate immediately, led by violet and supported by light citrus and soft herbal nuances. Juniper remains present but restrained, allowing the floral profile to take centre stage without becoming cloying. Subtle sweetness and powdery notes reminiscent of violets are complemented by gentle spice.
The palate is smooth and rounded, opening with delicate floral sweetness before revealing citrus freshness and light herbal complexity. The liquorice and root botanicals add depth and cohesion, while juniper maintains a clear but unobtrusive backbone. The texture is soft, with a controlled sweetness that remains balanced rather than overt.
The finish is medium in length, leaving lingering floral impressions alongside mild citrus and herbal tones. Whitley Neill Parma Violet Gin is well suited to a simple gin and tonic, where its floral profile can be highlighted, and it also lends itself to cocktails that benefit from aromatic and floral accents.
