A collaboration with Oddbox puts rescued pears and surplus chillies to use in Penrhos Wonky Pear and Chilli Gin. The misshapen pears were unsuitable for supermarket shelves, and the chillies are grown in Britain. The collaboration first appeared in 2025, sold out and returned in 2026.
Spicy · Fruity
Pear leads this fruit-led gin, bringing a soft, juicy natural sweetness on the nose and the first sip. The chilli then arrives with an initial kick, followed by a lingering warmth that builds slowly rather than burning. Bottled at 37.5% ABV, it remains light enough for the spice to show without overwhelming the pear.
The team tested more than 20 formulations before a tasting panel selected the final blend, a way of settling how much heat the pear could carry. The gin is hand-distilled and bottled on the family farm in Herefordshire, in a 70 cl recycled aluminium bottle. Penrhos was certified as a B Corporation in August 2026.
