Shortcross Rosie's Garden Pink Gin

An 18th-century walled garden inspired the fruit and herbs of Shortcross Rosie's Garden Pink GinPink ginToday, a gin flavoured and tinted pink (red fruit, rhubarb…). The strawberries provide a soft fruit character, sharpened by the raspberry's tartness. Lavender brings a herbal floral edge and chamomile a gentler, rounder note, all resting on a juniper-ledJuniper-forwardA classic profile where juniper clearly dominates, with resinous, piney notes.Glossary foundation. No sugar or sweeteners are added, so the sweetness of the strawberries comes from the fruit alone.

The name honours Rosie, mother of co-founder Fiona. Development included picking fruit and botanicals in the walled gardens from summer 2017, the same gardens that inspired the recipe. Launched in 2019, Rosie's Garden became the distillery's first pink gin. Rademon Estate Distillery bottles it at 42.5% ABV in County Down.

Rosie's Garden won double gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, a year after its launch. The producer offers it in a 50 cl bottle.

For the signature drink, fill a highballHighballA long drink served in a tall, straight glass with plenty of ice: a spirit topped with soda or tonic. The word also names the glass.Glossary glass with ice, pour in 5 cl gin and top with 12 cl Sicilian lemonade. Garnish with a lemon peel and a fresh mint sprig. Sicilian lemonade lengthens the drink with a bright citrus taste that complements the strawberries and raspberries, the lemon peel adds fragrance and the mint a cool herbal accent. Tonic is another option suggested by the producer.
