Riverland blackberries, cherries and figs meet Pinot Noir grapes from the Adelaide Hills in Prohibition's Christmas Gin 2026, the Dark Fruit Edition. The fruit and spices are steeped in the distillery's Original Gin, and the limited release is bottled at 38% ABV. Orange and juniper run a brighter line through the fruit, while cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and star anise bring the seasonal spice.
Limited Edition · Spicy · Fruity
Rather than a single berry note, the gin moves between fresh citrus, ripe dark fruit and baking spice. Blackberry and cherry open the nose, and fig and Pinot Noir deepen the palate with a rich, slightly jammy centre. Cinnamon and clove warm the middle, star anise adds a sweet aromatic note, and nutmeg rounds the finish. Orange and juniper keep the finish from feeling heavy, so the fruit stays fresh rather than syrupy. The edition has a darker fruit emphasis than the distillery's core recipe, and its fruit selection is specific to the 2026 release.
Served chilled or over ice, the fruit stays clear and the spice opens gradually. It also makes a festive base for a winter spritz, or for a warm punch with apple juice and citrus, where the spices come forward. A cinnamon stick placed beside the glass adds aroma without dominating the drink. Neat, a small glass after dinner shows the fig and spice at their richest.
For a gin and tonic, pour 4 cl over ice in a copaCopa glassA large stemmed balloon glass, popularised by the Spanish gin and tonic: it stays cold for longer and gathers the aromas above the drink.Glossary, add 10 cl of chilled The London Essence Company Mediterranean Seville Orange Tonic Water and stir gently. Add a few blackberries and an orange wheel. The Seville orange tonic picks up the citrus without adding a heavy layer of sweetness, and the blackberries repeat the dark fruit of the recipe.
