Geneviève Gin Violet Edition is a 2026 release from Bass & Flinders Distillery on Australia's Mornington Peninsula. The 500 ml bottle is filled at 40% ABV and its violet colour comes from butterfly pea flower. Rose petals, lavender, elderflower, native lemongrass, vanilla, orris and juniper shape a floral recipe with both fragrant and green elements. Bass & Flinders uses vapour infusion for Geneviève, a method that allows the botanicals to lend aroma without leaving a heavy macerated impression.

Rose and lavender set the first impression, with elderflower adding a softer floral note. Lemongrass gives the aroma a fresh, citrus-like lift; juniper remains the recognizable gin note beneath it. Vanilla rounds the transition from flowers to spice, while orris provides a dry, earthy finish. Butterfly pea flower contributes the edition's visible violet hue, rather than acting as a dominant flavour. Together these elements make the gin fragrant, but the citrus and juniper keep the profile from becoming simply perfumed.
The distillery is family-owned and works with grape-based eau-de-vie spirits as part of its range. Geneviève takes its name from a French form associated with juniper, and the producer connects the gin's style with the language of perfumery. The Violet Edition carries that floral emphasis into a distinct seasonal bottling. The botanical list gives the character more detail than the colour alone: rose, lavender and elderflower lead, while lemongrass and juniper keep the drink fresh and recognizably gin-like.
Serve it over clear ice with a restrained pour of Indian tonic, a narrow lemon peel and one edible rose petal placed in the glass. The tonic's quinine bitterness helps balance the floral notes, and lemon reinforces the citrus lift without masking the lavender. Avoid adding several flowers or sweet mixers: a single petal and a clean citrus aroma are enough to make the violet character visible while leaving the juniper and herbs in focus.
