Tuscan juniper is the defining ingredient in Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Tuscan Juniper, a 47% small-batch release built around berries sourced from the hills of Tuscany. The distillery selects a late-season harvest, when the berries have had longer to ripen, then dries them naturally in the Tuscan sun. That choice gives this bottle a clear focus: juniper is not simply one botanical among many, but the point from which the whole tasting profile unfolds.
Citrus · Dry · Limited Edition · Spicy
The familiar Bombay Sapphire botanical recipe provides the wider frame. The list includes lemon peel, coriander seed, orris root, angelica root, bitter almond, liquorice, cassia bark, cubeb berries, grains of paradise, wild juniper and fennel seed. Against those supporting notes, the Tuscan berries bring a particularly direct, pine-like juniper character. Citrus lifts the aroma, while the spices and roots add quieter depth rather than competing with the main ingredient.
On the nose, fresh juniper leads with a crisp evergreen quality, followed by bright citrus. The first sip keeps that order: juniper arrives firmly, then citrus opens the palate and a restrained warmth of spice develops behind it. Earthier botanical notes round out the middle without turning the gin heavy. The finish is long and returns to aromatic juniper, with enough freshness to keep each sip composed. At 47% ABV, the flavour remains distinct both neat and in a mixed drink, so dilution can be adjusted to taste.
A classic gin and tonic is the most direct way to enjoy its profile. Use plenty of clear ice, 5 cl of gin and around 12 cl of a clean Indian tonic, then add a fresh lemon twist and a few juniper berries. The citrus brightens the drink while the garnish echoes the Tuscan juniper at its centre; keeping the tonic measured leaves the gin's dry, pine-led character in view. It also suits a Martini, where the juniper can stand alongside dry vermouth without being buried by a strongly flavoured mixer.
