Poison Garden Cask Aged Gin marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Alnwick Garden with a 44% release limited to 250 bottles. It starts with the garden's signature Poison Garden Gin and spends twelve months in two Scottish whisky casks. The maturation brings vanilla, honeyed oak and warming spice to the juniper-led base.

The aroma is rounded by time in wood: vanilla and oak come forward, with a warm spice note behind them.
On the palate, the texture is smooth, and the cask contributes a gentle sweetness reminiscent of honey without turning the gin into a liqueur. Juniper remains the link to its gin base, while the finish moves from soft oak toward lingering spice. At 44%, it retains enough definition for a mixer but also rewards a small neat pour, where the barrel notes can be followed without dilution.
The anniversary bottling is distilled locally and draws on the signature Poison Garden Gin, associated with The Alnwick Garden's collection of toxic and unusual plants. Twelve months in two Scottish whisky casks give the gin a wood-led direction, while vanilla, oak and spice distinguish it from the garden's original bottling.
Serve 4.5 cl over clear ice in a balloon glass and add 10 cl Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water for a long drink. A thin apple slice goes inside the glass, with apple and lemon peel on a small plate beside it. The fruit gives the oak a fresh counterpoint, and the tonic keeps the finish crisp. Pour slowly and stir once; for a more focused tasting, begin with a small neat measure before adding ice or mixer.
