The Gardener brings fresh Riviera citrus to a French London Dry Gin. It is made in France and bottled at 42% ABV, with organic certification that applies to the gin itself rather than simply to its packaging. The project joins the Perrin family, distiller Tom Nichol and Brad Pitt. The oranges and grapefruit are grown around Vallauris on the French Riviera, while distillation takes place in the Cognac region. Keeping those two locations distinct gives a clearer picture than treating the bottle as if it were distilled among the citrus groves.

Juniper, angelica, coriander and liquorice form the traditional core of the recipe. The fresh fruit side consists of bitter Bigarade orange, sweet orange and pink grapefruit. Bitter and sweet orange bring different citrus qualities; the grapefruit adds a sharper, more aromatic edge. The producer's tasting description emphasises orange and pink grapefruit balanced by juniper. That makes the gin citrus-led but not a flavoured orange spirit. The bitter peel and dry botanical base help it retain the structure expected of London Dry Gin.
The technical sheet describes neutral grain spirit redistilled in copper, with a final pass through a 2,500-litre Charentais copper still. That method is compatible with the London Dry designation on the product and distinguishes the gin from a simple citrus infusion added after distillation. Organic certification is another concrete part of its identity. Nichol's distilling career and the Perrin family's regional ties put the gin's balance of juniper and fresh fruit in context. Neither fact changes where the finished gin is made.
The Gardener works well with cold tonic and a light citrus garnish. A thin pink grapefruit twist and a small orange slice mirror the named fruits, while a Mediterranean tonic keeps the glass fresh rather than overtly sweet. Begin with a moderate amount of tonic so the difference between bitter orange and pink grapefruit remains noticeable. The producer also suggests a Negroni or French 75. In a Negroni, the citrus can meet the bitterness of the aperitivo; in a French 75, the same freshness is carried by sparkling wine. A simple gin and tonic is still the most direct introduction to the balance between fruit and juniper.
