See the perfect serveSamsara The Vale of Paradise is the Kashmir-inspired release from India's Spaceman Spirits Lab. The dark blue bottle is marked 40% ABV and names Himalayan juniper, saffron and Kashmiri kahwa on its label. Kahwa is an aromatic tea tradition rather than a generic black-tea flavour; the distillery redistils it with saffron for this gin. The base recipe also draws on cardamom, vetiver and rose petals. Together these ingredients distinguish Vale of Paradise from the regular Samsara Contemporary Indian Gin already in the range.
Juniper gives the opening its pine-like dryness. The kahwa brings a gently herbal quality, while saffron and cardamom make the middle warmer and more aromatic. Rose is present without turning the drink into a floral syrup, and vetiver adds an earthy, root-like depth to the finish. The interest lies in the changing balance: tea first appears as fragrance, then the drier plants return after a sip. A small neat tasting makes that movement easier to follow than a heavily mixed cocktail.
The producer pairs this gin with apple and a touch of rosewater. For a simple gin and tonic, use thin fresh apple slices and a single edible rose petal instead of sweetening the drink. Put some fruit and flower in the glass and a little more beside it. Add cold Indian tonic gradually over large ice; too much will mute the kahwa and saffron. This keeps the drink fresh while giving the apple a useful role alongside the tea and the warmer spice. The rose should remain a delicate aroma rather than the main flavour of the drink.
