See the perfect serveHand-cut silhouettes, made by a street artist during a family holiday, gave Silhouette Stills its name and the images on its labels. Phillip Reed founded the distillery in Capel, Surrey, after a 40-year career in construction; a commercial distilling course in 2022 led to recipe development, licensing and, in 2025, the first bottles from a 200-litre copper still.
London Dry Gin No.2 is the spiced member of the range, bottled at 40% ABV. Its nine botanicals are juniper, coriander seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, vanilla, chamomile and orange. The distillery describes a balanced mix of bright citrus and warm spice, with a slightly sweet and floral finish. No.1, the first gin of the range, takes a different route with dates and blackberries alongside chamomile, nutmeg, ginger and vanilla, and Moonshine No.1, a 20% grain spirit infused with dates, cinnamon and vanilla, completes the range.
The recipe moves in clear stages. Orange and coriander open with brightness, juniper gives the dry base, and then the spices build: ginger with a lively bite, cinnamon and nutmeg with rounder warmth, allspice adding depth. Vanilla softens the edges and chamomile, a gentle, honeyed flower, brings the floral note to the finish, so the gin feels warm without becoming heavy.
The spice is well judged: No.2 won a Gold award in the Spiced Gin category at the 2026 edition of The Gin Guide Awards; that same year the competition named Silhouette Stills New Distillery of the Year. Lengthened with Indian tonic, its vanilla is balanced by bitterness, and a wide slice of orange repeats the citrus opening; a short cinnamon stick adds warmth to the aroma on colder evenings.
