English Heritage London Dry Gin Description

The Wiltshire Distilling Company combines garden botanicals with a classic London Dry structure in this gin for English Heritage. The label pays homage to the gardens of Queen Victoria's Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, and the recipe follows that cue: rosemary, raspberry leaves and elderflower sit among the botanicals, alongside the juniper a London Dry requires.

The list reads like a walled garden translated into a still. Juniper, coriander seed, angelica seed and orris root give the dry, classic frame; angelica seed is lighter and more aromatic than the root most gins use. Fresh rosemary brings a resinous herb, elderflower a soft floral note, and raspberry leaves a green, faintly tea-like dryness rather than fruit. Bergamot and fresh lemon supply the citrus, bergamot adding its floral bitterness, and cardamom closes the list with a bright spice. The botanicals are organic, and the gin is copper pot distilled in small batches.

The distillery works from a Grade II listed barn on the 9,000-acre Fonthill Estate, near Stonehenge, and is B Corp certified, a label that covers the company's social and environmental practices as a whole rather than the packaging alone. This London Dry belongs to the English Heritage Spirits Collection, a trio of 40% gins launched in March 2026 in partnership with the charity of the same name, which looks after historic sites such as Osborne.

A classic Indian tonic keeps the garden botanicals clear and the finish dry. Four centilitres of gin, ten of chilled tonic, firm ice, then a lemon wheel and a sprig of rosemary, the herb that links the drink to the Osborne gardens. Bruise the rosemary lightly before adding it, so its oils reach the nose with the first sip.
