Terpeni Fiori London Dry Gin

London Dry Gin · 42 % ABV · IT

Terpenes are the aromatic molecules that plants, and conifers above all, produce in their resins and essential oils, and they give their name to the Terpeni gins of Zona B Distillery. Founded in 2022 in Lavagno by Alessandro Zaghi, a former brewer, Zona B is the first gin distillery in Verona, a region better known for grappa.

Terpeni Fiori is the floral member of the range, a London Dry GinLondon DryA style, not a place of origin: every flavour comes from distilling natural botanicals. After distillation only water and a trace of sugar may be added, with no flavouring or colouring.GlossarySee London Dry gins at 42% ABV in 70 cl bottles. The producer lists juniper berriesJuniperThe one compulsory botanical: gin must taste predominantly of juniper. Its "berry" is really a small conifer cone, resinous and peppery.Glossary, coriander seeds, angelica rootAngelicaThe root of a tall umbellifer, earthy and musky. After juniper and coriander it is the most common botanical: it binds the aromas and holds the finish.Glossary, orris rootOrris rootIris rhizome dried for years, then ground. Powdery and violet-like, it mainly works as a fixative that binds and lengthens the other aromas.Glossary, chamomile flowers, elderflower, rosehip buds and magnolia flowers, on a base of organic soft-wheat alcohol. The distillery works with a copper still of 200 litres fitted with a reflux column and uses the Carter HeadCarter HeadA still fitted with a botanical basket in the vapour path: delicate plants are infused by the vapour instead of being boiled.Glossary method: the most delicate botanicals sit in a basket, where vapour at high alcohol strength and lower temperature extracts their lightest, most elegant aromatic fractions.

The gin is crystal clear with bright reflections. The nose brings juniper, herbaceous notes and magnolia flowers, and the palate is balanced and soft, with a persistent finish. Chamomile and elderflower add a gentle floral sweetness and rosehip buds a delicate fruit tone, while angelica and orris root keep the base dry and earthy.

Awards have followed each year: Gold with 92 points in the 2026 London Spirits Competition, a Silver medal from the Frankfurt International Trophy 2026 and, in 2025, a Contemporary GinContemporary ginAlso called New Western: juniper is still there, but other botanicals (citrus, flowers, spice) take the lead.GlossarySee Contemporary gin gins Gold awarded by The Gin Guide plus a second-place medal in London. The producer recommends it neat or in cocktails that call for a floral aroma, such as a gin and tonic, an AviationAviationGin, lemon, maraschino and crème de violette, hence its pale blue colour.Glossary or a Martini. A delicate tonic leaves the magnolia in front, while a sliver of lemon peel completes the drink.
