Fresh RaspberriesSun-soaked Australian raspberries and classic botanicals make up AmberChes Raspberry Gin, and the distilled fruit is what sweetens it naturally, giving a balanced yet distinctive flavour. The Swan Valley distillery sells it in 700 ml, 500 ml and 200 ml bottles, all at 42% ABV.
AmberChes describes a smooth, crisp gin with fruity notes in every sip, a raspberry finish and a sweetness that lingers on the palate. Retailers add that it keeps the character of a dry gin, with strong juniper notes rounding out the finish, so the fruit never turns the spirit into a liqueur. Raspberries bring a bright, floral fruitiness and a touch of acidity, which is why the sweetness stays fresh rather than heavy.
The World Gin Awards judges, who gave it Bronze in 2024, found a quiet nose with an elusive note, then a palate of sweet, slightly tropical fruits, lemongrass, birch sap and coriander, and a complex aroma of stone fruit and raspberry jam. The gin had already won Bronze at the Australian Gin Awards in 2021, a sign that the balance between fruit and juniper has convinced judges over several years.
Raspberry sits in a wide family range that also includes Botanical, Orange, Lemon Myrtle, Saltbush, Barrel Aged Orange and Sloe. Mixed with tonic, a light, gently bitter one leaves the fruit in front; drop in some fresh raspberries, then add a slice of lemon if the drink needs a little more freshness. The gin also works in a bramble-style cocktail, where its raspberry finish meets lemon juice and crushed ice.
