Mint SprigRaspberries and rhubarb give Teuchtler Sommer Gin its summer character. Roman Scheuringer makes it by hand in small batches in Peuerbach, Upper Austria, diluting the spirit with rock water from the nearby Mühlviertel, using no additives or artificial flavourings, checking each batch by taste and labelling every bottle by hand. It is sold in 500 ml bottles at 44% ABV.
The recipe is long and precise: juniper, coriander, lemon, angelica root, ginger, licorice, orris root, calamus root, hibiscus flowers, elderflowers, raspberries, peppermint and rhubarb. The classic roots, angelica, orris and calamus, give the gin a firm base, while raspberry, rhubarb and hibiscus add red fruit, tartness and colour, elderflower brings a floral note and peppermint a cool, green lift.
Falstaff's tasters found red fruit coming alive on the first nose, raspberry first, then sorrel and redcurrant behind it; on the palate lighter accents join, and cowslip and elderflower give the juniper a friendly face. The gin scored 90 points in the Falstaff Gin Trophy 2025, and the combination of fruit, flowers and roots keeps it lively without losing its gin structure.
It has also collected a Contemporary Style Silver from the 2026 World Gin Awards, a place among the finalists of the 2026 Gin Guide Awards and first prize at Das Goldene Stamperl in 2024. With tonic, a light one lets the raspberry and elderflower lead, and a few raspberries with a sprig of fresh mint repeat the fruit and the peppermint. The same producer also makes the original Teuchtler Gin, a classic London Dry.
