13 Oaks Vibrant Lime Gin Description

Fresh lime peel and makrut lime leaves give 13 Oaks Vibrant Lime Gin its immediate identity. The recipe is made at Little Abbey Farm in Wrenbury, Cheshire, and bottled at 42% ABV. Rather than treating lime as a sweet flavouring, the distillery places its bright oils against a recognisable juniper structure.

The gin is produced on a British-made copper pot still through a traditional one-shot distillation. Fresh peel supplies a vivid citrus aroma, while the leaves bring a greener, more aromatic shade that recalls crushed foliage as much as fruit. Juniper keeps the centre dry and prevents the lime from becoming soft or confectionery.

On the palate, the first impression is brisk and clean. Citrus oil spreads across the tongue, then a firmer pine-like note appears underneath. The finish is dry, lightly herbal and persistent, with enough concentration to remain clear after tonic is added. Its 42% strength gives the flavours room without making the drink feel heavy.

13 Oaks works from a family farm in Cheshire, where the small-scale setting and one-shot method give this bottle a clear production context. Vibrant Lime received a Gold Award in the 2026 Flavoured Gin judging organised by The Gin Guide, following the distillery being named New Distillery of the Year in 2025.

The official long serve uses plenty of ice, slimline tonic and a restrained scatter of juniper berries. Keeping the garnish simple is important: extra citrus would amplify a note already present in the spirit, whereas juniper reveals the dry frame beneath it. Serve cold and stir only briefly. The result remains unmistakably lime-led, yet its dry finish makes it more versatile than a sweet citrus gin.
