Best enjoyed with Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water, garnished with Damask rose petals and Lemon peel.
See the perfect serveDamask rose is the central aromatic marker of this Slovenian London Dry Gin, bottled at a firm 47% ABV. Heaven & Hell combines it with a much broader recipe of forty-seven natural botanicals, using both maceration and steam infusion to draw out different aromatic registers.
Rose arrives clearly on the nose, but the higher strength and dry distillation keep it from reading like perfume or syrup. Juniper gives the spirit its backbone, while the undisclosed supporting botanicals contribute spice, dryness and depth without allowing any single accent to obscure the floral centre.
The palate opens with fresh petals and a faint citrus brightness before moving toward a warmer, more structured middle. Alcohol carries the aroma well, creating length rather than simple heat. The finish is dry and lingering, with the rose becoming finer and less overt as the juniper and spice settle.
The producer presents the bottle as a premium Damask rose recipe, but its interest lies in the contrast between delicacy and concentration. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring, allowing the distillation and botanical balance to define the glass rather than sweetness or visual effects.
A clean Indian tonic is the most useful partner. Keep the gin measure modest so the floral detail stays distinct, then add a few rose petals and a narrow lemon peel. The lemon should brighten the aroma without turning the drink into a citrus-led serve. At this strength, dilution matters: a generous measure of tonic opens the rose while preserving the dry juniper line.
