Orange Peel
Garnish
Ginger SliceFresh orange and ginger extend Henstone's London Dry base in a recipe developed over more than six months. Both ingredients are distilled and then infused, giving this 40% gin a combination of clear citrus oil, warming root spice and the drier botanical structure of the original spirit.
Orange leads the aroma with peel, juice and a mild sweetness. Ginger follows quickly, bringing freshness and heat without turning the nose harsh. The underlying juniper remains visible between them and gives the two headline ingredients a firmer, more recognisably gin-like frame.
The palate begins round and bright, then ginger builds steadily through the middle. Infusion adds immediacy, while distillation keeps the flavours integrated rather than separate. The finish is clean, lightly peppery and citrus-led, with enough dryness to invite another sip.
Henstone launched the bottle in November 2024 after a lengthy development period. No artificial colours or flavours are added, so the pale appearance and direct aroma come from the fruit, root and gin itself. That restraint makes the recipe useful in long drinks as well as sharper citrus cocktails.
Ginger ale, classic tonic and lemonade are all suggested by the distillery. A dry ginger ale gives the best continuity with the recipe. Use orange peel and a single thin slice of ginger, placed directly in the drink; too much fresh ginger would make the finish needlessly hot. As the ice dilutes the drink, orange moves forward first and ginger follows with a clean, measured warmth.

Place an orange peel and a thin ginger slice inside the glass and repeat both on a small plate beside it.
