Plum sliceRipe fig and plum bring a deep orchard-fruit character to this 42% gin from Uncommon Distillery. The fruit rests on a juniper-led spirit distilled in-house from British-grown sugar beet, giving the bottle a dry foundation beneath its warmer seasonal profile.
The aroma combines red fruit, soft fig and a peppery edge. Plum contributes freshness and gentle acidity, while fig broadens the texture with a darker, honeyed impression. Juniper prevents either fruit from taking over and introduces a cleaner botanical line through the centre.
The palate is rounded at first, then gradually becomes drier and more spiced. Fruit remains clear without tasting jammy, and the finish brings pepper, juniper and a lingering winter warmth. At 42% ABV, it has enough weight to stand up to ginger ale or apple juice without disappearing.
The distillery makes its base spirit from British sugar beet and triple distils it on site. Spiced Fig & Plum was recognised by The Gin Guide in its 2025 awards and scored strongly at the London Spirits Competition, where the judges also noted juniper, red fruit and pepper.
Dry ginger ale gives the fruit a lively frame and extends the spice already present. A fig wedge and a plum slice make the ingredients visible without adding unnecessary sweetness. Use hard ice, keep the mixer cold and set both garnishes directly in the drink, where their juice can mingle with the ginger ale. The serve keeps the two fruits recognisable and lets the drier spice emerge as the ice begins to melt, sip after sip.
