See the perfect serveSpirit of Glastonbury Spiced Orange & Ginger Gin is distilled in Somerset and bottled at 42% vol. in 70 cl. Fresh root ginger and orange peel are added to the distillery's standard botanical recipe, with all flavour created during distillation and no flavouring added afterwards.
Orange peel supplies a bright, juicy fragrance, while ginger introduces fresh heat rather than a dried-spice heaviness. Juniper keeps the fruit within a recognisably dry gin structure and gives the sweeter citrus notes a resinous counterpoint. The palate opens with orange oils before the ginger gathers strength through the middle. The warmth is lively but controlled, and the juniper becomes clearer as the fruit recedes. A clean, spicy finish leaves both peel and root visible.
The gin won Silver in the Signature Botanical category at the 2024 World Gin Awards. Its direct recipe and distillation-only flavouring explain the clarity between citrus and ginger better than a long list of decorative ingredients would. The official suggestion is to serve it over ice with fresh orange, Fever-Tree Premium Tonic Water and crushed mint. Use 4 cl of gin and 10 cl of tonic, with an orange slice, a thin ginger slice and a few mint leaves in the glass and repeated beside it.
Because orange and ginger are distilled rather than added as flavourings, neither behaves like a syrup. The peel is dry and aromatic, while the root gives a clean heat that fades without stickiness. Mint in the recommended serve adds a cool top note; it should be lightly handled so it supports the ginger instead of replacing it.
