Best enjoyed with &T Blueberry Tonic Water, garnished with Ripe blueberries and Rosemary sprig.
See the perfect serveBlueberries gathered at full ripeness in the Dolomite woods give this Kapriol its deep fruit character and unmistakable violet colour. The berries are infused into the distillery's established botanical gin, whose 40.7% structure rests on juniper, roots, flowers, spice and mountain herbs. Distilleria dell'Alpe traces the recipe back to a family tradition and works with small copper stills, allowing the fruit to sit within a genuine gin framework rather than becoming a sweet berry-flavoured spirit.
Ripe blueberry leads the aroma with a dark, fresh-fruit note, followed by lavender, mint and rosemary. Juniper and mugo pine provide the dry resinous core. Hops contribute a quiet bitterness that is particularly useful here: it keeps the berry broad and aromatic without letting it become jammy. Coriander, caraway and cardamom add fine spice, while angelica and gentian give the base an earthy firmness.
The first sip is rounded and fruity, but the progression remains controlled. Blueberry fills the centre, rosehip adds a gently tart echo, then oregano, bay and hops tighten the finish. A low proportion of sugar keeps the dramatic colour from announcing a heavy palate: the taste is fresher and drier than the appearance might suggest. With no citrus in the recipe, the gin also offers a clean space for a carefully chosen acidic accent in mixed drinks.
For the Perfect Serve, fill a balloon glass with clear ice, add 4 cl of Kapriol Blueberries Gin and 10 cl of &T Blueberry Tonic Water, then stir once. Add three ripe blueberries and a short rosemary sprig to the glass, then repeat both on a plate beside it. The tonic extends the fruit without introducing citrus, while rosemary reconnects the serve to the gin's alpine herbal base.
