Dutch Gin Pur Malt Bio

Distilled Gin · 44 % ABV · FR

Dutch Gin Pur Malt Bio begins with malt rather than a purchased neutral spiritNeutral spiritAgricultural spirit rectified to at least 96% ABV, almost tasteless. It is the base later flavoured with botanicals.Glossary. Distillerie Terre Froide brews, ferments and distils its own pure-malt base in Quet-en-Beaumont, between Grenoble and Gap, before carrying the process through to bottling. Yann Morhain and Thomas Guillard built this independent Alpine distillery around organic production and complete control of their raw material. Bottled at 44% ABV in a 50 cl format, the gin connects the grain tradition behind early Dutch spirits with a modern French mountain setting.

Juniper is the only individual botanical revealed in the recipe, accompanied by a blend of plants from the Alps and elsewhere. The malt base gives the gin a broader cereal foundation than a conventional neutral-grain gin. Juniper lays a dry, resinousResinousAn aroma reminiscent of pine or fir resin. It is juniper's signature, due to compounds such as pinene.Glossary line over that base, while the Alpine plants bring the herbal lift that defines the bottle. The result places grain, pine and mountain herbs in a compact composition with a character quite distinct from a purely neutral spirit.

The nose opens on juniper, dry grain and fresh mountain herbs. On the palate, the malt provides a rounded texture and a discreet cereal depth before the pine character of juniper takes control. The herbal notes become clearer through the middle, supported by the 44% strength, then the finish returns to grain, resin and a measured dryness. The balance is substantial enough for slow tasting, yet the gin remains clean and direct rather than heavy or sweet.

The neutral tonic preserves the malt and juniper, while the peel adds brightness to the Alpine freshness. A single gentle stir is enough; further decoration would blur the unusual meeting of pure malt, juniper and mountain herbs.
