Atlantide Gin con Pompelmo e Alghe Description

Atlantide Gin con Pompelmo e Alghe is a Distilled Dry Gin created in 2023 by master distiller Alex Bartolucci at Distilleria Mezzanotte in Pesaro. Its maritime identity is supported by both recipe and method. The gin combines juniper, pink grapefruit, seaweed, lichens and pink peppercorn, and it is bottled at 45% ABV. Rather than relying on colour or sweetness, Atlantide builds its coastal character through citrus, earthy marine botanicals and a lightly savoury finish.

Two distillates form the final blend. A classical base is made in a copper still, while a second distillate is produced under vacuum at low temperature to preserve more delicate marine aromas. Pink grapefruit brings bright acidity and a softer ripe-fruit side. Seaweed adds measured salinity, lichens contribute an earthy and gently musky depth, and pink peppercorn gives the middle a lively aromatic spice. Juniper holds these elements together in a recognisably dry gin structure.

The nose opens with grapefruit peel and juniper, followed by pink pepper and a cool mineral impression. On the palate, pink grapefruit is both citrusy and softly fruity. Lichens then make the centre more earthy, while seaweed introduces a subtle savoury quality rather than a literal mouthful of salt. Pink pepper gives movement before the finish settles into dry juniper, lingering grapefruit and a light saline trace. The 45% strength keeps the marine botanicals defined.

For the gin tonic, pour 5 cl over clear ice and add 12 cl of Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water. Garnish with a narrow pink-grapefruit peel and three pink peppercorns. The tonic supports the citrus and herbal details, grapefruit mirrors the leading botanical, and the peppercorns sharpen the aroma. Keep the garnish restrained so the seaweed and lichens remain part of the finish rather than disappearing behind perfume.

Do not crush the peppercorns. Their surface aroma is enough to lift grapefruit while preserving the subtle seaweed and lichen finish.
