AmberChes Botanical Gin Description

Elderflower, apple and orange give AmberChes Botanical Gin a bright, fragrant character around a dry juniper core. This was the first gin released by AmberChes Spirits Distillery, a family-owned producer in Western Australia's Swan Valley, and it has become one of the house's most awarded bottles. The recipe brings together eight botanicals, including juniper, angelica root, liquorice root, cardamom, elderflower, apple and orange. Bottled at 42% ABV, it retains the structure of a London Dry while allowing floral, orchard-fruit and citrus notes to soften its outline.

Juniper and orange peel lead the aroma, followed by the delicate floral tone of elderflower. Apple contributes the freshness of crisp fruit rather than overt sweetness, and cardamom adds a cool, aromatic spice. Angelica root anchors the palate with a dry earthy note, while liquorice root rounds the texture and extends the finish. The progression remains clear: citrus and flowers first, a lightly fruity middle, then roots and spice bringing the gin back to a dry, composed close.

The compact recipe gives each botanical a recognisable role without making the profile feel crowded. Elderflower lends perfume, apple brings a clean orchard accent and cardamom creates lift between the fruit and the classic gin base. At 42% ABV, the texture has enough weight to carry these details through tonic while remaining smooth when served over ice. The result is approachable but not anonymous, with a balance that suits both drinkers discovering contemporary Australian gin and those who still expect juniper to remain clearly present.

Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water, plenty of clear ice, a thin fan of apple and a twist of orange peel form a precise Perfect Serve. Apple echoes the fresh fruit note, orange releases fragrant oils above the glass, and tonic bitterness preserves the dry structure. The garnish works best when kept fine and crisp rather than abundant. The same floral-citrus balance can also support a White Lady or a dry Martini, where cardamom and elderflower become more apparent as the drink warms slightly.

Keep both garnishes fresh and unsweetened. Apple mirrors one of the documented botanicals, while orange adds lift above the glass; together they support the elderflower and cardamom without softening the dry London Dry structure.
