TOHI Admiral's Reserve Navy Strength Gin Description

At 59.1% ABV, TOHI Admiral's Reserve has the strength to carry cassia, ginger, citrus and warm spice without blurring its juniper core. Its botanical list is generous but coherent: juniper, coriander, grains of paradise, cardamom, cassia bark, fresh ginger, lemon peel, orange peel, liquorice, hibiscus, angelica root and star anise. The strength gives the gin a serious frame, but the recipe is not built only on alcohol. It uses spice, citrus and root botanicals to create power with shape.

The aroma opens on juniper and black-pepper-like spice, then moves toward cardamom, star anise and citrus peel. Fresh ginger is important because it gives a brighter heat than dry spice alone. On the palate, the gin is intense, dry and smooth for its strength, with juniper at the centre and a layered spice finish. Lemon and orange peel keep the profile from becoming dark, while liquorice and angelica give the mouthfeel depth. Hibiscus adds a quiet floral edge rather than obvious colour or sweetness.

As a navy strength gin, TOHI Admiral's Reserve is best understood through concentration. It needs dilution, but it rewards careful serving. In tonic, the higher ABV carries aromatic oils well and keeps the drink from becoming thin. In cocktails, it can add backbone where a lighter gin would disappear. The balance between fresh ginger, citrus and warm spice makes it more agile than a purely heavy navy strength style.

The Perfect Serve uses a large balloon glass, plenty of ice, quality tonic and a sour green apple slice. Adding a lemon peel twist links the serve to the citrus botanicals and gives a brighter first aroma. The apple is best kept thin and crisp, not muddled, so the drink stays dry and structured. This is a gin that benefits from precision rather than abundance.

The higher tonic ratio is intentional for 59.1% ABV. It opens the spice without making the drink aggressive.
