Gin Eva La Bergamota Description

Gin Eva La Bergamota is intentionally reduced to two named botanicals: fresh bergamot and Macedonian juniper. That minimalism gives the gin its force. Instead of hiding the citrus behind spice, fruit or sweet aromatics, the recipe lets bergamot behave like the leading material, with juniper giving dryness and structure. Bottled at 45% ABV, La Bergamota was named Spain Country Winner 2026 in Signature Botanical at the World Gin Awards.

The first aroma is unmistakably citrus, but not in a simple lemon or orange register. Bergamot brings perfume, peel bitterness and the familiar Earl Grey tea association, while juniper gives a pine-like grip underneath. The palate is dry, bright and direct. Fresh bergamot lifts the attack, then a more pithy bitterness appears through the middle. Juniper prevents the gin from becoming a scented citrus spirit and leaves a clean, resinous finish.

This is a gin for drinkers who enjoy clarity. In a gin and tonic, a dry Indian tonic works better than a strongly flavoured mixer, because the bergamot already provides enough aromatic detail. A short bergamot or lemon peel garnish is enough. The same profile can also work beautifully in a Martini with a citrus twist, or in a White Lady-style cocktail where the bergamot adds depth to the lemon rather than simply repeating it.

La Bergamota feels modern because it does so little, but it does it with accuracy. The appeal is not a broad Mediterranean mood; it is the exact meeting of fragrant citrus oil, peel bitterness and juniper dryness. That focus makes the gin easy to distinguish in the catalogue and useful behind the bar.

A dry tonic lets bergamot and juniper stay sharply defined. Keep the garnish small so the citrus oil does not overpower the glass.
