Height of Arrows Bright Description

Height of Arrows Bright is the concentrated member of Holyrood Distillery’s juniper-led gin range. The official profile presents it as intense, silky and strongly marked by juniper, with the same essential materials that define the project: juniper, sea salt and beeswax. At 48% ABV, Bright has more pressure than the original bottling, but its purpose is not simply strength. It is designed to make the pine, resin and texture of juniper feel more immediate.

The nose is clean and forceful, with fresh pine and a citrus-like brightness that comes from the distillation of juniper rather than from named citrus botanicals. The palate has a firm attack, then becomes smoother as the beeswax texture appears. Sea salt makes the flavours feel sharpened and controlled. The finish is long, dry and herbal, with a polished mouthfeel that keeps the gin from becoming hard. Bright is therefore powerful, but not rough.

In a gin and tonic, Bright should be treated with precision. Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water gives the bitter frame needed for a higher-strength gin, while a lemon peel twist adds lift without changing the identity of the recipe. A short ratio is better than a large pour of tonic: too much mixer would flatten the tactile quality that makes this gin different from the standard bottling.

Bright is a good choice for drinkers who like juniper clearly drawn and spirits that keep their shape when diluted. It can also suit a Martini where the vermouth is measured carefully. The point of the bottle is not complexity by accumulation, but intensity through focus: a small number of ingredients, handled in a way that makes texture, resin and finish do most of the work.

Use a short tonic ratio. The lemon peel adds lift, but the serve should remain focused on juniper, texture and dry finish.
