Tobermory Hebridean Gin Description

Tobermory Hebridean Gin belongs to the Isle of Mull distillery that is better known for whisky, and that detail matters in the glass. The gin is built from juniper, tea, heather, elderflower and sweet orange peel, then given a small splash of spirit from Tobermory's whisky stills. It is not the same product as Tobermory Hebridean Mountain Gin; this bottle has its own recipe, its own ABV and a clearer orange-floral register.

The first impression is bright rather than heavy. Juniper gives the nose a resinous start, sweet orange lifts it quickly, and elderflower softens the edges without turning the profile sugary. Tea brings a dry, lightly tannic thread through the middle, while heather adds a restrained floral-herbal note. The palate follows the same line: citrus at the front, a clean botanical core, then a finish where the tea and the tiny whisky-still contribution give a discreet malted depth. At 43.3% ABV, it has enough presence for tonic but remains approachable.

A Mediterranean tonic works well because it supports the elderflower and heather without covering the orange. Serve 4 cl of gin with 12 cl of tonic over clear ice, then use an orange peel and a small edible flower or elderflower garnish. The serve should stay light: too much garnish would bury the tea and heather, which are the details that separate this gin from a simple citrus bottle.

Its charm is the way Tobermory connects gin to a whisky distillery without forcing the idea. The glass remains fresh and botanical, with just enough distillery character in the background to make it memorable.

The orange garnish follows the sweet orange peel, while the floral touch keeps elderflower and heather visible without covering the tea note.
