Tarbert Legbiter Navy Strength Gin Description

Tarbert Legbiter Navy Strength Gin takes Beinn an Tuirc's botanical discipline into a stronger, more physical register. Bottled at 57% ABV, it is built with juniper, pink peppercorn, hibiscus, coriander, angelica, almond, liquorice, cassia and orris. The result is not just a higher-strength version of a dry gin; the hibiscus and pink pepper give the bottle its own balance of floral colour, peppery lift and dry botanical weight.

The nose is assertive but not rough. Juniper arrives first, followed by a light red-fruit impression from hibiscus and a peppercorn brightness that feels warm rather than fiery. Cassia and coriander add spice through the middle, while angelica and orris hold the structure in place. In the mouth, the alcohol carries flavour rather than heat alone: the first sip is piney and dry, the centre becomes floral-spiced, and the finish stretches out with liquorice, root botanicals and a clean pepper note. A little water or tonic opens the hibiscus without thinning the gin.

This is a bottle for a tighter perfect serve than a standard 1:3 gin and tonic. Use 4 cl of gin with around 9 cl of a crisp Indian tonic, lots of ice, pink peppercorn and a hibiscus petal. The lower tonic ratio respects the navy strength and keeps the floral-spice profile concentrated. It can also bring real structure to a Gimlet or a dry Martini variation when the cocktail needs extra botanical pressure.

Tarbert Legbiter works because its power has direction. The strength is there, but the recipe gives it a readable line: juniper, flower, spice, dry finish. That makes it useful for drinkers who want intensity without losing the gin's detail.

A shorter tonic ratio respects the 57% ABV. Pink pepper and hibiscus mirror the botanicals and keep the serve floral, spicy and dry.
