Long Orange Peel TwistSipsmith Sipspresso Coffee Gin is a 37.5% ABV gin made with coffee beans supplied by Pact Coffee, sourced from Brazil and Rwanda. The distillery places coffee beside juniper rather than above it, then layers cinnamon, coriander, vanilla and banana around the roasted core. It is designed for drinks that want real coffee aroma without leaving the world of gin.
The nose starts with roasted coffee and cocoa, followed by warm baking spice. Cinnamon gives the aroma a dry, fragrant edge, while coriander brings a lighter citrus-spice lift. Vanilla and banana round the roast with a softer, dessert-like note, but the botanical frame prevents the profile from becoming overly sweet.
The palate has a velvety coffee character with dark chocolate, cacao and subtle chai-like spice. Star anise can appear in the finish, adding a cool, liquorice-toned accent after the roast. Juniper remains important because it gives the liquid shape and freshness, especially once it is lengthened in a mixed drink.
Sipspresso is especially convincing in a tall serve. Pour 50 ml over ice, add chilled tonic and finish with a long orange peel, as proposed by Sipsmith. Orange oil cuts through the roast and connects naturally with coriander and cacao. The gin also has an obvious place in coffee-led twists on classic cocktails.
This is a coffee gin for drinkers who want roast, cacao and spice with a dry botanical finish. Its most attractive feature is the tension between dark coffee depth and the brighter details that keep the glass lively.
