peach slice and lavenderSilent Pool English Garden Expression Gin is a 43% ABV flavoured gin from Silent Pool, the Surrey distillery known for building aromatic gins through layered botanical distillation. This bottling develops a softer and more floral side of the Silent Pool style, taking inspiration from the idea of an English garden in bloom. It keeps juniper at the centre of the structure, but surrounds it with peach, summer stone fruits, lavender, rose, chamomile, honey and jasmine green tea.
The recipe is not built as a simple sweet peach gin. Its fruit character is shaped around ripe stone fruit, with peach and apricot-like notes giving the first aromatic impression. Lavender, rose and chamomile add the floral frame, while honey brings a gentle rounded texture. Jasmine green tea is especially important because it introduces a drier, lightly tannic line that keeps the profile from becoming too soft or sugary. Juniper remains the botanical anchor, bringing pine and dryness beneath the garden-like aromatics.
On the nose, the gin opens with peach and summer stone fruit, followed by a broad but controlled floral register. Rose gives a perfumed lift, lavender brings a more aromatic herbal tone, and chamomile softens the edges. The fruit is present and inviting, but the aromatic structure remains botanical rather than confectionery. Green tea appears more quietly in the background, giving a fine vegetal note and a sense of dryness behind the peach.
On the palate, English Garden Expression Gin is rounded at first, with peach, honey and floral notes creating a soft opening. Citrus brightness then appears through impressions of lemon and grapefruit, adding lift and preventing the fruit from becoming heavy. Juniper gives the gin its spine, while jasmine green tea brings a dry, slightly tannic finish. The balance is built on contrast: ripe fruit and floral softness at the front, then cleaner citrus, pine-like juniper and dry tea toward the end.
The finish is fresh, floral and gently dry, with lingering peach, citrus peel, green tea and juniper. In a gin and tonic, it works best with a tonic that does not overpower the fruit and flowers. A light tonic, elderflower tonic or restrained premium tonic can support the profile, especially with a peach slice, lemon twist or very delicate floral garnish. It can also be used in spritz-style serves and bright summer cocktails where peach, citrus and floral notes remain easy to read.
