The result is still clearly Beefeater: dry, citrus-led and built for mixing, but with more depth, more lift and a brighter grapefruit edge. The ruby bottle and Tower of London reference make it visually distinctive, yet the liquid remains rooted in a very classic London gin vocabulary.
On the nose, Crown Jewel is direct and confident: juniper, lemon peel, Seville orange, grapefruit and coriander arrive first, followed by warmer spice and a faint liquorice sweetness. Angelica root and seed, orris and almond support the structure without becoming heavy. In the mouth, the 50% ABV gives real presence, but the official profile is not about alcohol heat. Grapefruit leads the attack, juniper firms up the centre, and the finish brings citrus peel, spice and a subtle sweet-earthy note from liquorice.
This is a strong candidate for a gin and tonic when the serve needs energy rather than softness. A Mediterranean tonic works well because it keeps the citrus open and adds a herbal line without hiding the grapefruit. A large grapefruit wheel or a clean grapefruit zest is the most logical garnish; it repeats the extra botanical that separates Crown Jewel from the standard Beefeater recipe. The drink should feel dry, bright and polished, with enough power for cocktails but enough balance for a precise G&T.

Dehydrated Grapefruit WheelFill a chilled copa glass with large clear ice cubes.
Pour 5 cl of Beefeater Crown Jewel London Dry Gin, then add 15 cl of Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water slowly along the glass.
Stir once or twice only.
Garnish with a dehydrated grapefruit wheel placed against the glass so the citrus aroma reaches the nose before the first sip.
