Gin Juillet Description

Gin Juillet is a French gin from Maison Ferroni, a house based in Provence and closely associated with historical spirits, old recipes and small-scale distillation. This expression is made from French organic wheat alcohol and distilled in a very small still dating from the nineteenth century. Its recipe takes inspiration from an old formula preserved in Guillaume Ferroni's collection of antique books, then adapts that historical base to a clearly Provençal and seasonal reading of gin.

The production follows the London Gin approach: the botanicals are macerated directly in the still before distillation, rather than being added as simple flavourings after the fact. Alongside classic gin aromatics, the still receives a basket of fresh fruits from Provence, especially apricot and white peach, both strongly linked to the month of July in the region. This gives the gin its name and its distinctive direction. The fruit is not presented as a sweet liqueur effect, but as a fresh botanical contribution integrated into a distilled gin at 44% ABV.

On the nose, Gin Juillet opens with a broad summer-fruit impression. Apricot brings ripe stone-fruit depth, while white peach adds a more delicate, juicy and floral brightness. Juniper remains present underneath, giving the profile its gin structure, and the wider aromatic bouquet evokes Mediterranean freshness, coniferous greenery and citrus trees. In the mouth, the gin combines roundness and lift: the fruit gives volume, the distillation keeps the texture clean, and the finish carries a fragrant balance of orchard fruit, floral notes and discreet aromatic freshness.

This gin works particularly well in a gin and tonic when the tonic stays precise and not too sweet. A Mediterranean or citrus-leaning tonic can underline the Provençal character, while a garnish of apricot or white peach echoes the distillation basket without adding unnecessary complexity. Served over ice or in a simple long drink, Gin Juillet expresses its main interest clearly: a dry gin construction enriched by the brightness of fresh summer fruits and by the aromatic imagination of Maison Ferroni.

Using a single large ice cube minimizes dilution, preserving the gin's robust 44% ABV and flavor profile. The fresh apricot garnish not only complements the gin's ingredients but also adds a visual appeal to the serve.

Instructions

In a chilled highball glass, place a large, clear ice cube to maintain the drink's integrity.

Pour 5 cl of Gin Juillet over the ice, allowing its fruity and floral notes to unfold.

Gently add 15 cl of Le Tribute Tonic Water, known for its subtle citrus and herbal nuances that harmonize with the gin's apricot and white peach flavors.

Stir delicately to combine.

Garnish with a fresh apricot slice, enhancing the gin's stone fruit character.

For variety, consider substituting the tonic with Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water or Fentimans Valencian Orange Tonic Water.
