Etsu Sakura Gin Description

Etsu Sakura Gin is a floral Japanese gin built on the delicate meeting point between citrus, blossom and soft spice. The Etsu style is usually bright and aromatic, and this Sakura version places cherry blossom at the centre of the profile while keeping the gin anchored by juniper, yuzu, coriander, liquorice and bitter orange. It is bottled at 43% ABV, which gives enough structure for mixed drinks while preserving the light, perfumed character that makes the expression easy to recognize.

The nose is led by yuzu and bitter orange peel, quickly joined by sakura petals and a soft herbal background. The floral side is present but not heavy: it feels more like a pale blossom aroma than a sweet confectionery note. Coriander brings a gentle spice and liquorice rounds the edges, while the green bitter orange keeps the aromatic line fresh and slightly bitter. On the palate, the first impression is citrusy and clean, then the sakura becomes more apparent, adding a silky floral layer over the dry botanical base.

Etsu Sakura Gin is especially comfortable in a gin and tonic with a tonic that stays crisp rather than heavily sweet. Grapefruit peel is a useful garnish because it connects the yuzu and bitter orange, while a small edible blossom can echo the sakura without turning the serve decorative for its own sake. The finish is medium, bright and lightly floral, with citrus bitterness and a soft spice returning after the first freshness. It is a good choice for drinkers looking for a Japanese gin that is expressive and charming while still behaving like a gin in the glass.

The serve should feel floral and citrusy, not sweet. Keep the blossom garnish minimal so it supports the sakura note without perfuming the glass too heavily. Grapefruit peel keeps the finish fresh and slightly bitter.
