Fishers Smoked Gin Description

Fishers Smoked Gin is a smoked London Dry Gin from Fishers Gin, rooted in the Suffolk coast and the distillery's local botanical identity. The smoked direction is not a superficial flavouring: coastal botanicals such as sea purslane, rock samphire and bog myrtle are linked to an oak-smoked treatment associated with Pinney's of Orford, giving the gin a savoury, woody and maritime character. Bottled at 44% ABV, it keeps enough strength for tonic while offering a profile that is much darker and more gastronomic than a classic citrus-led coastal gin.

The botanical list combines familiar gin structure with a coastal and smoky layer: juniper, coriander seed, angelica, orris, lemon peel, orange peel, fennel seed, cardamom, caraway, rock samphire, bog myrtle and sea purslane. On the nose, the smoke appears first as dry oak and warm wood rather than heavy barbecue sweetness. It is joined by citrus peel, pepper, juniper and a faint saline green note from the coastal botanicals. The profile feels earthy, savoury and coastal, but still recognizably gin-led.

On the palate, Fishers Smoked Gin has a dry and textural attack. Juniper and citrus give the opening, then oak smoke, spice and coastal herbs build through the middle. Fennel and caraway add an aromatic seed-like warmth, while samphire and sea purslane bring a marine impression without making the gin taste overtly salty. The finish is long, dry and gently smoky, with black pepper, citrus peel and a lingering herbal edge. It is a gin that rewards careful dilution and does not need a sweet garnish.

For the perfect serve, a dry or light tonic is the safest choice, because too much sugar would flatten the smoke. A copa glass with large clear ice, 5 cl of gin and a measured amount of tonic will keep the profile precise. A lightly singed rosemary sprig works well because it echoes the smoke while adding herbal lift. Lemon peel can also work, but the garnish should stay minimal. Fishers Smoked Gin is especially interesting for drinkers who enjoy savoury gin and tonics, smoky Martinis or aperitif-style serves with a coastal edge.

Use a copa glass, plenty of ice and a clean tonic balance. The serve should stay elegant and readable: citrus for the Drumshanbo, gentle smoke and herbs for Fishers, and a dry Mediterranean line for Quattro Gatti.

Instructions

Fill a chilled copa glass with large clear ice cubes.

Pour 5 cl of Fishers Smoked Gin over the ice, then add 15 cl of Double Dutch Skinny Tonic Water slowly down the side of the glass.

Stir once or twice to combine without losing the bubbles.

Garnish with lightly singed rosemary sprig, keeping the garnish precise and restrained so it supports the gin's main aromatic direction.
